Mahabharat
A ballad on Mahabharata:
Mahabharat is a saga where,
People from the heavenly abode are
reincarnated,
A son renounces the throne and takes oath of
celibacy,
Where God himself descends on earth to
establish dharma,
A rishi curses a king,
God of the children were born,
5 pandavas and 100 kauravas were born,
A teacher asks for a thumb of the archer so
that he can make his favorite student the best,
A teacher curses a student for lying about his
caste,
A friendship is established,
Brothers fight among themselves,
They try to kill their own blood,
A father turns a blind eye to his son’s deeds,
A princess is married to 5 kuru princes,
Hastinapur is divided,
A barren land is given to a prince to rule,
That barren and is converted by the brothers
into the glorious Indraprasth,
Rajsuya yagya takes place where a king is
killed by the hands of god himself,
The eldest pandav becomes the samrat but not
for long,
A game of chausar is played with high stakes,
But oh lord! The samrat loses everything and decides
to stake his brothers and wife!
A woman is disrespected in the court,
Oaths are taken which will lead to destruction,
The brothers exile their own blood,
12 years of vanvas and 1 year of agyatvas,
This too couldn’t satisfy their greediness,
They were not ready to negotiate,
The last option was chosen: War,
The armies stood on both sides,
Families stood on both side,
They were fighting their own family,
It was during this time that god directed
mankind and gave us the knowledge of bhagvadgita,
A destructive war was waged,
Massive blood spilled,
Rules of the war broken by both sides,
Leelas played by god,
People were killed brutally,
It was not a fight between the kuru family,
Nor was it between pandavas and kauravas,
It was a war between dharma and adharma,
In which dharma emerged victorious,
The 100 kauravas were killed,
Our god was cursed,
This was the starting of the kali yuga
